  • Not subject to restrictive OSFI lending rules – SFI is not subject to Guideline B-20 which outlines fundamental principles that federally regulated lenders must follow. They include that loan decisions cannot be based on the underlying collateral value but rather a client’s ability to service the loan. Also that all high ratio loans (>80% LTV) must be insured. By not being bound by the same regulatory burden placed on federally regulated lenders, SFI is able to offer “non-prime” borrowers loans otherwise unavailable to them.

Chris Waters, President – Chris brings 20+ years of business development, sales, marketing, financial and general management experience to SFI. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics with a finance concentration, an MBA, Canadian Securities Course designation, and is a CFA candidate. He has held progressively senior positions in various high tech and renewable energy firms. Most recently as Vice President and General Manager of PhotoWatt Ontario, a wholly owned subsidiary of Automation Tooling Systems.

Dave Chornaby, Vice President – Dave brings 30+ years of broad operational and general management experience with a strong background in financial management; over this career, he has led finance teams that raised in excess of $150M in public and private markets. He has held senior finance positions with  major corporations including Hewlett-Packard and General Electric and was previously CFO for a TSX listed multinational renewables company. Most recently, Vice President of Finance for the Solar Subsidiary of ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) and Business Administration grad of Ryerson University.
