John RichardsonCEO

John Richardson is the founder and inventor of Ethelo and the author of the patent applications describing the technology. He completed a B.Sc. (Hon) in Mathematics at the University of Toronto and a law degree at the University of Victoria.  John is also the founder of Pivot Legal Society, one of Canada’s leading human rights organizations.  John has overseen Ethelo’s growth and development over the past 5 years.  He led the early planning and design of the Ethelo technology, managed contractor and employee selection, hiring and oversight, directed the technology prototyping and market validation, and conducted much of the business analysis, in particular translating client requirements into specifications.   John has received recognition for his academic and social accomplishments, including more than $250,000 in financial awards. In 2005, John received an Ashoka Fellowship as a world-leading social entrepreneur.

 

Laura Williams, Lead Developer

Laura Williams is the lead developer of the Ethelo platform.  A senior software engineer with 15 years experience, Laura has deep familiarity with crowdsourcing technology and has built ten different collaboration platforms to engage the wisdom of groups.  She has also worked as a senior developer with Chaordix, Mobio and Mogo Money.  Laura has worked with Ethelo and managed the development team since June 1015.  Her work has been divided between fulfilling specific client feature requests, systematizing their development methodology, and laying the data architecture foundations for the SaaS product.

 

Michelle Martin, CMO

Michelle Martin is a communications professional and serial entrepreneur.  Formerly she worked as a reporter for various publications before moving into corporate communications for BC Hydro, where she led strategic communications efforts for the BC Hydro executive team.  She then founded her own company, ArtsAlly, which was an online local art portal out to connect Vancouverites to local art they love.  ArtsAlly was acquired by Kabuni, and Michelle moved on to establish her next company NXT Level You.   Michelle is a co-founder of Ethelo, and has been a member of the board of directors since 2011 providing her expertise in communications and marketing. In 2017, she moved into a part-time role with Ethelo where she is overseeing its growing communications effort. She is a strategic idealist who dreams big and works hard to collide business development and creativity with purpose.

 

Sharon Wilkie, CFO

Sharon Wilkie is a financial administrator, and the founder of Glasshouse which provides financial, administrative support services, and small business consulting.  Glasshouse provides services to dozens of charities and non-profit organizations in Vancouver.  Sharon formerly served as CFO for the Canadian Paraplegic Association and Ecojustice.  Sharon has worked with Ethelo as its financial administrator since it was established in 2011.  Her work has included managing accounts, providing regular financial statements, coordinating audits, and overseeing the corporate records and filings.
